DESTRUCTION OF HOOD'S ORDINANCE
TRAIN & RUINS OF ROLLING MILL
Atlanta GA
1864
When the Confederate Army abandoned Atlanta, there were
large amounts of gunpowder stored on a train they were unable
to take with them. To keep the materiel out of Union hands,
General Hood ordered the train set on fire, resulting in
a series of enormous explosions.
